It was a pleasure to meet Jeff Ingber again at the National Championships a couple of weeks ago. Jeff who is a former England International and Swaythling Club International member has been a regular attendee at the Championships for a number of years. This year he brought with him a number of photographs from his collection which are shown below.
Jeff’s senior debut for England was in 1957 in Norwich versus Yugoslavia, he went on to gain about 55 caps. His junior debut had been six years earlier in 1951, against Sweden when Tommy Sears was the Captain.
Jeff played in three World Championships, one European Championship and two Quadrangular tournaments as well as many English Opens and was a competitor at the first National Championships in 1960.
At the English Open in 1961 Jeff was Runner-up in the Mixed Doubles with Kathy Best and a year earlier in September 1960 he reached the finals of the Nationals with Jean McCree also in the Mixed Doubles.
The last photo is an up to date photo of this year’s Swaythling Club meeting at Hatfield on Sunday March 20, 2016.
If you can fill any of the gaps in the photographs of the players it would be much appreciated. I can be contacted on [email protected]
