Table Tennis England held the 2019 National Conference at the College Court Conference Centre in Leicestershire on March 30-31.
The conference was aimed toward clubs, coaches and volunteers, with the weekend seeing more than 100 delegates from across the country having the opportunity to meet new contacts and learn key information and skills about the sport. Many workshops were held covering multiple topics such as TT Kidz, Developing Club Facilities and Growing the Game for Women and Girls.
Alongside these workshops was the Developing School-Club Links which saw teachers and coaches who operate in schools learn more about how they can create pathways for children and young people to play table tennis at a level they are comfortable with. The workshop also allowed an opportunity for these delegates to learn about key tactics when developing school-based clubs; from utilising existing contacts, when to approach schools and locating funding opportunities.
When questioned about what they believed was the greatest aspects of the conference, one attendee stated: “The opportunity to hear success stories, obtain informed up-to-date info and meet like-minded people who are seeking to develop and drive forward table tennis was a valuable resource.”
