As part of the new Table Tennis England ‘Be TT’ programme a new Bat and Chat session has been developed at Heaton Tennis and Squash Club in Bradford. The club which was established in 1927 has thriving tennis and squash sections and provides some of the best facilities in the area. As part of a new community focused development they are now adding Table Tennis to their activity programme. As well as the new Wednesday morning Bat and Chat session and a new girls satellite club session the club are to introduce a junior coaching session and a social pairs league. Sally Shutt-Table Tennis England Development and Volunteering Officer North commented-‘ This is a really exciting new opportunity for Table Tennis in Bradford. We have already seen that there is an appetite to grow the sport at Heaton from both existing racket members and new members from the local community. The Bradford and District League are fully supporting these developments and are looking at the possibility of a dedicated Table Tennis Centre which could benefit from the fantastic facilities available at Heaton’.
