A number of coaches and young activators recently attended the TT Kidz Activator Training Course at Leigh St George Table Tennis Club. The club is situated within a mill that has been transformed through lottery funding into a heritage centre and home to a number of other local community sports clubs, such as a martial arts, dance, bowling, archery and karate clubs.
The Table Tennis Activator course was delivered by Neil Hetherington from Premier Education and was attended by 15 club representatives from Leigh, Halton, East Manchester and Deighton & Huddersfield Table Tennis Clubs.
The course was a 3 hr course and took the activators through the 8 weeks of the TT Kidz programme. The activators enjoyed working together in pairs, delivering a fun, engaging and inspiring session. There were plenty of laughs and useful learning points absorbed throughout the course.
All of the 4 clubs are involved in phase 2 of TT Kidz and will start their 8 weeks delivery very shortly. They are all excited and raring to go as they feel the new TT Kidz programme will be a fantastic boost in helping them to engage with the 7-11 year olds. It will help them to grow, develop and sustain their club memberships and to hopefully reach out to the wider community, with parents/grandparents coming along to the TT Kidz session and then possibly joining in with other club sessions or volunteering their time to help the clubs.
