Rougham Table Tennis Club have been helping disadvantaged youngsters in Kenya to fall in love with the sport.

The club in Suffolk recently received a donation from their local borough councillor Sara Mildmay White to enable them to buy new club bats for beginners.

It meant they were able in turn to donate their existing bats to The Doxa Project, a charity working in the slum district of Nakura, Kenya’s third largest city.

Three adjustable net sets and a box of table tennis balls were also handed to the charity, which is creating an activity area for the community.

The equipment has now arrived in Kenya and has been well received by youngsters for use on their hardy, homemade table.
