Table Tennis England Vice-President Tom Honey has died at the age of 93.
Mr Honey was born in St Ives, Cornwall and was one of the three founder members of St Ives TTC in 1950.
It began a lifetime of service in Cornwall, including attending the inaugural meeting of the County Association in 1951 and going on to represent the West Penwith and West Cornwall Leagues on the committee.
Cornwall’s National Councillor from 1987-88, among Mr Honey’s other roles were Assistant County Secretary and County Team Secretary from 1951 to 1961, County Secretary from 1970 to 1983, County Treasurer from 1971 to 1983 and West Cornwall League Secretary from 1983 to 1989.
As a player, he was county doubles champion alongside Bob Charlesworth in 1952, while his other achievements included designing the official County badge in the 50s.
Mr Honey, who became an ETTA Vice-President in 1980, ended his long association and service with Cornwall in 1989, when he and his wife Eileen moved to Scotland to be nearer their daughter Yvonne and her family.
