Torbay Table Tennis Academy held its Christmas Grand Prix event on 12th December with 52 competitors taking part. Also this year, 12 young players (ages 5 – 8) “The Busy Bees” had a fun session and some training and multi-ball practise with Torbay’s division one players. It was lovely to welcome more than 30 spectators and supporters to the club who all contributed to the great atmosphere.
The tournament was played on 14 tables with each player competing in four different categories, the top three players from each group were awarded table tennis goodies and all players taking part awarded some festive chocolates. Fortunately, Father Christmas was able to take time out of his hectic schedule to visit the Busy Bees and deliver some chocolates!
The committee arranged a wonderfully large buffet and made sure there was plenty for everyone to enjoy. A thank you goes to everyone who contributed to the buffet.
The afternoon ended with a raffle and Torbay TTA would like to thank the many local businesses who kindly donated gifts to the raffle including a printer from Exeter Office Supplies and match tickets from Torquay United.
The afternoon was enjoyed by all and it was great to see everyone there together supporting the club. A special thanks goes to all involved! From the preparation, setting up of the venue, buffet, raffle prizes, selling tickets, supplying music and then of course the clearing and tidying away! Everyone worked together as a lovely family club.
