Shae Thakker retained his Junior Singles title at the Cippenham TTC Championships but not before Jemma Walker had threatened a surprise result.
Walker, counter-attacking strongly on both wings, took the first game of their final but it was Thakker who finished the stronger, eventually winning 3-1.
Lucie Bouron provided the shock of the event. Demonstrating how much more powerful her game has become following one-to-one coaching from the maestro Ken Phillips, she defeated the latest star prospect Pranav Gudipati in the quarter-final.
However, she was no match for Thakker in the semi, after Thakker had ended the run of Sam Gamblin one round earlier.
Over in the other half of the draw, Walker beat James Western-Kaye in their quarter while William Fricker put paid to Amandeep Dhak at the same stage. Walker then beat Fricker 3-0 to ease her way into the final.
A total of 20 players contested the event, organised by Ken Phillips and Jan Chapman.
