The Norwich Junior Championships took place on Saturday 11th March 2017 at Catton Grove School, 18 young people took part in what proved to be a very competitive day.

The boys singles was played in one group of six players as a round robin Alex McRobie (Wensum) was the winner having won all five of his games, James Austen (Taverham) was the runner up with four wins, only losing to Alex in five sets.  A close fought competition.

The girls singles had only two entries Ella Barnard (Wensum) and Georgina Sunter (Taverham).  Georgina lost out to her younger opponent in five sets of competitive play.

The cadet singles (mixed under 15) had nine entries was played in two groups with the winner and runner up in each group going through to play a semi final and then a final.  Alex McRobie and Ella Barnard (both Wensum) went through from group one, Lewis Ross (Taverham) and Ed Horton (Wensum) from group two.  The semi finals were well contested with Alex McRobie beating Ed Horton in four sets and Ella Barnard beating Lewis Ross in three sets.  The final lived up to the spectators expectations with some superb play from both Wensum youngsters but some steadier play from Alex saw him home 11-8 in the fifth set.

The under 13 singles was also played in a round robin in a group of six players.  Lewis Ross (Taverham) was the winner winning all his five games with Ella Barnard (Wensum) runner up with four wins just losing to Lewis in four sets.

The under 11 singles was again a round robin format with Harrison Cunningham (NCTTC) in first place and Ben Hawes (Wensum) in second place.

The open doubles was won by Ella Barnard and Alex McRobie (Wensum) and Georgina Sunter and James Austen taking the runners up spot.

The handicap singles was won by Alex McRobie (Wensum) and the runner up was Georgina Sunter (Taverham).  Georgina had a one point start over Alex which was not quite enough as she lost out 11-6,9-11,10-12.
