Birmingham’s 27 weekly sessions continue to run and bring new people into the sport.  New venues and sessions will be added to the programme over the coming the months.

WOT A RACKET – Birmingham rackets festival

Birmingham’s very own Racket Festival ‘Wot A Racket’ will be launching at New Street Station on 9th July and will be running FREE weekly sessions at a variety of parks across the City through to the end of August.

Local residents will have the chance to try their hand at Table Tennis and other racket sport in a fun, family friendly sessions led by experienced coaches. The sessions are open to everyone, regardless of age or previous playing ability, with the emphasis being on having fun, being active and trying something new.

Leicester

A 12-week block of women-only sessions has taken place at Huncote Pavilion linked to Winstanley Wizards Table Tennis Club and support by both Blaby District Council and Table Tennis England. The session has been run by young newly qualified female coach Kelsey Andrews and throughout the programme 12 participants have regularly attended.

Ping Pong Spectacular

To help with promoting the table tennis activity taking place in Leicester on Sunday June 12, a Ping Pong Spectacular took place at Fullhurst Community College. With the help of three local clubs, Leicester Electricity TTC, Knighton Park TTC and Winstanley Wizards TTC, several different activities took place in the more with a robot challenge, coaching and come & try it tables.

Before the afternoon a big game of round the table was organised with all present being given a bat to take part.

Once this was completed an exhibition match was staged with special guest for the afternoon Kelly Sibley showing off her skills. Once the exhibition was finished Kelly then played against all-comers, offering some very useful coaching tips and advice for all.

Nottingham

Nottingham’s weekly sessions continue to grow and develop and over the next few months more sessions will be added to the programme.

Datto Ping Volunteer training

On Thursday June 16, Nottingham’s Datto Ping volunteer training took place at Das Kino. Volunteers were encouraged to come down in there football shirts, and they enjoyed a complimentary drink and some pizza whilst learning how they could play there part in Some-Ping! this summer.

Farnsfield Table Tennis Club

Farnsfield Table Tennis Club is a newly formed village table tennis club based in Nottinghamshire.  Through fund raising and donations they have purchased three tables and other equipment to get the club started.  The club will commence shortly with a senior section first followed closely by a junior section in the near future.
