The Mayor of Halton, Councillor Ged Philbin, was delighted to host a reception to celebrate the success of table tennis ace Jack Hunter-Spivey and figure skater Stephanie Gott.

Jack took part in Paralympics GB (Table Tennis) at the Paralympic Games held in Rio this year, while Stephanie will be part of the Special Olympics GB team at the World Winter Games in Austria in March 2017.

The reception was held at Runcorn Town Hall and was an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of both athletes, as well as providing publicity for the forthcoming World Winter Games. Ken Tonge represented Halton Table Tennis Club as Chairman Karen was at British Paralympic AGM in London.

Both Special Olympics Great Britain and Paralympics GB are members of the Olympic Movement and recognised by the International Olympic Committee. Both provide sporting opportunities for children and adults with disabilities, but at different levels, and are registered charities.
