Nuneaton and District Table Tennis League are celebrating a fabulous double after taking first place for the second consecutive year in the 2017 Nuneaton Carnival. The good weather helped to draw the crowds, raising more than £3,000 for charity and good causes.
With a theme of ‘Musicals’, the league decorated the float as a 1930s Hollywood movie set, complete with camera, sound, lighting and movie sets.
They then recreated scenes from classic musical movies, such as Gene Kelly in Singing in the Rain, Julie Andrews in the Sound of Music and Mary Poppins, and a rather masculine looking Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz.
Richard Costall, social secretary for the Nuneaton League, said:
The Carnival is a great way to promote our table tennis league, raise money for good causes and also put a smile on the people who lined the route.
There was extra celebration to come though, at the presentation evening, where the league not only collected their first-place award for their category, but also collected ‘best overall float’.
