After many years searching, I am pleased to announce that Sheffield’s Wadsley Bridge TTC has, at last, found a new home venue.

Sheffield Wednesday FC is a Premier League 4 Sport designated football club which, via its Community Programme, delivers education and alternative sports, including table tennis, into local schools, colleges and the community.

WBTTC provided the motivation which encouraged SWFC – supported by Sport England Inspired Facilities Lottery funding, PL4S and Table Tennis England – to install a purpose built table tennis facility, adjoining the existing Education Centre, located beneath their north stand.

WBTTC is underpinning the table tennis outreach program by providing sport specific expertise to the coaching staff of SWFC along with an essential coaching pathway for those participants seeking to achieve a high level of competitive play.

The project has been jointly driven by Trevor Parsons and Rod Bly on behalf of WBTTC and Matt Bray the SWFC Community Programme Social Inclusion Manager.

The new in-house facility will be utilised to the full, providing fully inclusive junior coaching, adult sessions, general pay and play sessions in addition to its use as a home match venue for WBTTC and will open for the new season in September.

Rod Bly commented “This excellent new venue will provide an exiting opportunity for our club to increase participation in the sport and organically grow our membership.”

This is superb news for Sheffield and will really help to grow Table Tennis!! Well done to everyone involved.
