Since the Leeds Bat and Chat centres were established last year it has become apparent that many of the service users have been suffering from Dementia with some excellent case studies of how our sport has helped them in their everyday lives.

The Activators have therefore been offered the opportunity to attend a Dementia workshop to support them in the way they communicate with participants suffering from the illness. Dr Phil McIntosh who has a Phd in the subject delivered the first part of the workshop which is named emPoWereD conversations  last Monday at John Charles Centre for Sport, Leeds. The course shows an approach to dementia care focusing on communication skills that has been developed  by Six Degrees Social Enterprise and the Institute of Dementia at Salford University.
