Rafal Aleksandrzak beat defending champion Tomasz Pietrzyk to win the Handicap Cup at the 69th Huddersfield Closed Championships.

Aleksandrzak (+4) prevailed over Deighton club-mate Pietrzyk (+1) in a closely fought out final, winning 42-40 with the handicap (11-9, 11-10, 5-11, 11-9).

The Band 1 final was contested between Damian Galka and Keith Skarz, with Galka defending the trophy from from last year. He had to pull out all the stops in beating club-mate Krzystof Sobkiewicz over five games in the semi-final before beating Skarz in four games (11-8, 11-7, 8-11, 11-7).

In the Band 3 final, Eron Samuda beat Godfrey Gabriel 3-0 (11-9, 11-9, 12-10).

The Doubles final saw holders Tim Dyson and Russell Senior up against Pietrzyk and Galka, which was to prove a close encounter. Dyson and Senior won the first two 11-7, 11-7, before Galka and Pietrzy bounced back to take the next two 12-10, 12-10.

In the decider, the experience of the holders saw them open a 9-5 lead, only for Peitrzyk and Galka to bring the game back to 10-10. However, Dyson and Senior got over the line 13-11 to keep the title.
