Ten days ago four table tennis tables appeared in the heart of London’s major business district, signalling the beginning of this year’s Ping! Canary Wharf event.
The tables have been available seven hours a day for the whole 10 days, each with a coach or practice partner available to participants throughout. The tables were frequented by a huge range of people from bankers to buskers and aged 5 to 80 years. A mass of customer feedback was gathered from the event and all of it was overwhelmingly positive.
This year’s corporate event was won by HSBC Bank, as representatives from the likes of Barclays, Citibank, Moody’s, JP Morgan and the European Medical Agency were swept aside in a competition that was spread over five days and hosted right in the middle of a major shopping centre.
Special thanks should go to Mary Roberts and Canary Wharf Arts & Events for their help and willingness to organise and host the event. Thanks also go to members of Joola Morpeth TTC for supervising, coaching and acting as a practice partner on all of the tables, as well as answering questions and providing information off of them. They provided every single participant with the help and support they required.
