Elmtree Graphics A (Gary Baker, Glenn Johnson and Nigel Lamb) scored a very welcome 10-0 win over ECC B in the first division of the Chelmsford & District Table Tennis League, a result that moves them into seventh position. Gary Baker opened the scoring with a hard-fought 9-11, 10-12, 11-9, 11-5, 11-4 win over Alistair Hill and Elmtree eventually went on win all ten games. Maldon A had Alex Abbott on top form against Danbury A who they beat 7-3. However, Danbury’s Michael Andrews won twice, beating both Paul Stephens and Paul Sayer whilst Eric Green and Michael Andrews scored a really impressive 11-8, 11-9, 11-6 victory over Alex Abbott and Paul Sayer in the Doubles.

ECC C jumped above Hatfield Peverel A into third place in division two by beating the Village side 6-4. James Hicks was their match-winner with a hat-trick of wins whilst Bryn Thomas won twice.

Rawreth moved into fourth place in division three. Paul Churn (three wins), Dale Gutteridge (two wins) and Matt Rolfe (two wins) all played their part in their 8-2 win over Chelmsford C. Hatfield Peverel C won their third game of the season against OCs B after Gareth Davies had won his three singles. Davies completed his hat-trick with a 3-11, 11-8, 11-5, 9-11, 11-2 victory over Tony Vassallo.

Although OCs C moved into top place in division four although their 5-5 draw against ECC F won’t have been the result they were hoping for. It was a competitive match with four games decided in the fifth end and these were shared 2-2. David Porter won his three singles for OCs whilst Allison
Millard won twice for the ECC side. Allison beat Sue Hickman, Runner-up in the 2012 M&G Investments Chelmsford Championships Ladies Singles Final in five ends – 11-9, 5-11, 6-11, 11-7, 11-5. Hatfield Peverel D had Dave Carter to thank as they beat Writtle C 6-4. Dave Carter’s toughest opponent turned out to be Colin Griffiths and he eventually won 9-11, 11-7, 5-11, 11-6, 11-7.

OCs F (Josh Watts, Peter Windley and Tom Barker) scored a fine 6-4 win over the higher placed Elmtree Excalibur F in division five despite the fact that none of their players were able to get the better of Wiktor Delimat. Peter Windley pushed Wiktor Delimat the hardest before succumbing 6-11, 11-4, 11-7, 8-11, 6-11.

ECC G (Nathan Blore and Emily Wood) made it nine wins out of ten in the CLICK League by beating Old Chelmsfordians 5-0 whilst ECC H follow in third place. The ECC H side of Andrew Wood and Jamie Rainbow beat Chelmsford K 5-0. Jamie Rainbow defeated Harry Isaacs 11-7, 12-14, 13-11, 16-14 in the closest game of the night.
