It was the two youngest players who impressed in the first division of the Chelmsford & District Table League this week. Maldon B’s James Denyer scored a fine hat-trick of wins against the leaders Writtle A. This included a superb 3-1 victory over Peter Radford. The match finished as a 5-5 draw. Chelmsford Junior Champion Brandon Crouchman was also on good form as he and David Cole
were undefeated in OC’s A’s 7-3 win over ECC A. Crouchman ran out a 3-1 winner against all three ECC players – Mark Mulley, Reuben Okai and Steve Kerns. The match between Elmtree Graphics A and Bocking finished as a 5-5 draw. Paul Davison was on top form for Bocking. He scored an excellent hat-trick of three- straight wins against Gary Young, Gary Baker and Glenn Johnson.
James Denyer had to settle for two wins in Maldon B’s 6-4 win over Danbury A. He missed out 10-12, 12-10, 9-11, 11-7, 11-13 against Michael Andrews. It turned out to be a good night for Andrews who also beat Minda Sinkus 6-11, 11- 9, 11-5, 4-11, 12-10.
Danbury D (Chris Buer, Steve Buer and Andrew Halling) have taken control in division two. They scored their twelfth win of the Season by beating Hatfield Peverel B 10-0. Writtle B (Trevor Carter, Hector Rogers and Gary Ward) were very impressive 9-1 winners against a strong Liberal side of Robin Armstrong, Steve Pennell and Barry Pritchard. Liberal did better against Danbury B. Barry
Pritchard and Robin Armstrong both won twice for Liberal whilst Neil Want picked up two victories for the Danbury team. The match was drawn, 5-5.Elmtree Excalibur D are running away with division three and they have a massive 23 point lead over Elmtree Excalibur C. Steve Cheesman, Scott Dowsett and Paul Sturton all won twice as they beat third-placed Rawreth 6-4. Paul Churn won twice for Rawreth. He defeated Scott Dowsett by the odd-looking scoreline of 11-13, 11-4, 11-2, 3-11, 11-7. It was a good week for Hatfield Peverel E. Neil Freemand and Dave Fiddeman were both unbeaten as they defeated ECC E 8-2.
OCs C jumped into second place in division four. And what a good performance they produced. Their team of Mick Hayes, Roy Moore and David Porter beat the team above them – Danbury H 10-0 !. Mick Hayes opened the evening with a
12-10, 13-11, 11-6 victory against Kevin Willis but would he have honestly have expected to have gone into the last game of the night against Brian Ellis with his side still not having lost. For the record Hayes beat Ellis 11-8, 8-11, 11-4, 9-11, 11-5 to seal the OCs victory. Elmtree Excalibur E ran out 6-4 winners against Writtle C. Rod Maclennan led the way with a hat-trick of wins. Maldon C
(Brian Riedling, Tom Elder and Shirley Carroll) stay top and they beat Hatfield Peverel D 6-4. Dave Carter and Adam Carter won twice for the Peverel side whilst Brian Riedling and Tom Elder picked up two wins apiece for the Maldon side. Brian Riedling did well to beat Dave Carter 4-11, 11-17, 11-4, 11-7.
In division five OCs E ran out 8-2 winners against Highwood. Daniel Berry (three wins), Mick Parkhurst (two wins) and Charlie Mariner (three wins) were all on target for the OCs side. Martin Goddard overcome a first game whitewash to beat Mick Parkhurst 0-11, 11-9, 11-9, 11-4.
