Cleveland’s Kaine MacDonald triumphed in the Junior Boys’ event at the Cramlington Junior 2 Star Tournament sponsored by aalco when he beat fellow Cleveland player Jack Cope in the final.

Both semi- finals were exciting affairs, with MacDonald winning in five games against Scotland’s Keir Morton and Cope doing likewise against Robert Renton (Durham).

In the final, MacDonald took the first two ends comfortably before Cope pulled one back and came close in the fouth before he lost out 12-10

Cope’s younger brother overcame the Scottish challengers by defeating James Forrest in the semis and taking the title with a victory over Keir Morton after being two games down.

He also featured in the final of the Under-13 Boys, which saw him take on another Scot, Danny Bajwa. This time he went two games up but Bajwa came back strongly to win an exciting match.

The Under-12 Boys’ title went to Peter Smallcombe (Durham) with Jamie Peacock (Durham) the runner-up. The Junior Boys’ Plate event was won by Carl Draper (Durham) with Matt Oldfield (Durham) the runner-up.

The Junior Girls’ title was won by Amy Webster (Cleveland) with another Cleveland player, Madelaine Dunn, the runner-up in a round-robin event.

Dunn won the Cadet Girls, with Katie Peacock (Durham) in second place, while Cleveland’s Jessica Dunn triumphed in the Girls’ Plate with victory over Rebecca Harrison (Durham).
