Fifteen members of PE staff from Carr Manor Community School, Cardinal Heenan Catholic High School and Corpus Christi Catholic College, attended a Table Tennis INSET session yesterday. All three schools run thriving Table Tennis clubs and saw this as an excellent opportunity to upskill their staff to enhance delivery within both curriculum PE and extra-curricular clubs. All three schools have recently entered year 8 and 10 teams in the new Leeds School League Competition. The demand for the sport at Carr Manor is definitely growing and they have recently benefited from an outdoor Ping! Leeds legacy table. A new community club is also being established at the school to run on a Monday evening as part of the Leeds Priority Zone development plan.
Nici Walker,Team leader for Physical Education at Carr Manor said ‘Here are at Carr Manor Community School, Table Tennis is fast becoming one of our most popular sports. The sport is played every lunch and break time with clubs starting after school and before school. It is a fantastic, fun and fast paced sport to be involved in which pupils find easy to access at a basic level’.
