Table Tennis has definitely stolen the show at the Bradford Olympic Team GB Fanzone where local crowds have embraced the sporting spirit under the big screen in City Park. The two tables supplied by Table Tennis England have been constantly busy with young and old alike and hopefully this will encourage some of them to seek play on opportunities at local schools and clubs. Haworth Hawks TTC have had several volunteers at the Fanzone and have given out promotional literature to encourage people to take up or re-engage with the sport.
Andy Bray, Director of Keighley Table Tennis Centre commented ‘ The Fanzone event in City Park has provided a unique atmosphere and has shown Table Tennis in a wonderful light. The interest from people across all ages has been overwhelming and we have had a great opportunity to promote the club and Table Tennis Centre.’
Sally Shutt- Table Tennis England Development Officer North said-‘ The Table Tennis tables have prime location underneath the big screen which has been run by UNESCO City of Film. Hopefully the people of Bradford have been inspired by the action both on the screen and on the tables to get involved in our great sport. I have already had some initial discussions with the local authority to build on this event and further develop the sport across the city.’
