Sam Walker is through to the main draw at the Indian Open in New Delhi after completing a 100% record in the group stage.

He beat the host nation’s Jubin Kumar 4-1 today, adding to two earlier victories on day one of the competition.

He beat Saudi Arabia’s Abdulaziz Bu Shulaybi in the opener, seeing his opponent win two deuce games to level at 2-2 before pulling away again.

And he followed up with a win by the same score against Abdel-Kader Salifou of France, ranked No 130 in the world.

Walker will face Austria’s Robert Gardos in the last 32 at 2.15pm UK time on Thursday. His opponent is world ranked 43 and seeded eighth in New Delhi.

Sixth seed Paul Drinkhall enters the competition at the same stage and will face Hong Kong’s world No 181 Lam Siu Hang at 3.45pm UK time.

The two English players also face French pair Tristan Flore & Quentin Robinot in the last 16 of the doubles at 6am UK time.
