Liam Pitchford is the last English player competing in the Men’s Singles at the Swedish Open.

Pitchford is through to Preliminary Round 3 of the ITTF World Tour event after beating Denmark’s Anders Lind yesterday.

After going 3-1 down, Pitchford fought back to win the next three consecutive games to take the match 4-3 (8-11, 12-10, 4-11, 7-11, 12-10, 11-4, 11-7).

He faces Brazil’s Thiago Monteiro in the next round at 1pm today (Wednesday).

Paul Drinkhall was knocked out after a close match against Yukiya Uda (JPN). He lost 4-1 (10-12, 13-11, 11-9,11-9, 11-9).

All four players also competed in the Men’s Doubles yesterday.Sam Walker was also eliminated after a 4-2 loss to Sweden’s Par Gerell (11-6, 11-7, 11-7,8 -11, 2-11, 11-3), while Tom Jarvis lost to 4-2 to Kirill Gerassimenko (KAZ) – 9-11, 10-12, 11-9, 11-6, 9-11, 11-6.

Paul Drinkhall & Liam Pitchford beat Marcelo Aguirre (PAR) & Thiago Monteiro (BRA) 3-0 and will take on Brazil’s Eric Jouti & Gustavo Tsuboi today (Wednesday) at 1pm UK time.

Jarvis & Kanak Jha (USA) bt Sharath Kamal Achanta & Sathiyan Gnanasekaran (IND) 3-0 to progress. They next play Jaehyun An and Seungin Cho (KOR) at 7.45pm UK time.

Sam Walker & Tobias Rasmussen (DEN) were knocked out after a 3-0 loss to Ham Yu Song (PRK) & Jang Woojin (KOR).
