Team GB’s Olympic table tennis stars have started the final phase of their preparations at a training camp in Denmark.

Liam Pitchford, Paul Drinkhall and Sam Walker have been practising with other international aces including Jonathan Groth and Michael Maze of Denmark and Kristian Karlsson and Par Gerell of Sweden.

The trio will move on to a camp in Germany this week, at which the likes of Vladimir Samsonov of Belarus, Panagiotis Gionis of Greece and the German team will be present.

They will also be joined by the Team GB reserve Tom Jarvis, who is currently competing in the team competitions at the European Youth Championships.

You can see the Team GB aces in action and hear the views of Liam Pitchford by watching this short film by PingOut.

Liam added: “It’ll be more about trying to get tuned up for matchplay, so more serve and return and that kind of thing.

“After that we’re heading to Germany, in Dusseldorf for four days for training and two days at a tournament and it will be good to play some matches and see where we are at.

“It’s good to get that variety. Everyone has a different style and it’s good to play against all of those different styles.”
