We are proud to announce that Table Tennis England has been shortlisted for Governing Body of the Year at the BT Sport Industry awards.

The prestigious award recognises single sport governing bodies or operators of a league or competition. Measurement is based on 3 pillars – leadership, community and performance. The award also takes into consideration increases in participation, public interest in the sport, and elite success.

  • Bronze medal at the World Champs
  • Best ever Olympic Finish
  • Pam Butcher becoming a world champion at 85
  • Ground breaking Sportbible broadcast – 2.1million viewers
  • Launch of Pride of Table Tennis Awards

  • Harry Fairchild becoming the world’s first qualified Table Tennis Coach with Downs syndrome

Table Tennis England CEO Sara Sutcliffe said:

“We are extremely proud of this nomination. It is a testament to the valued members of the table tennis community all across the country.

It is not about Table Tennis England taking credit for these successes as there are so many people who input into them, from Sport England to the Volunteers that help us deliver the sport, our delivery partners and of course those that play our sport on a regular basis.

I would like to take this opportunity to offer my personal thanks to all of those across the country that have inputted into the development of the sport.

2016 was an amazing year for us. We had so many positive firsts. We are all working hard to ensure that we continue to help anyone, anywhere who wants to engage in our wonderful sport!”

The winner will be announced at the award ceremony taking place at Battersea Evolution on Thursday April 27th.
