England’s Junior Boys were denied a place in the quarter-finals of the European Youth Championships when they lost 3-2 to Sweden.

Victories by Tom Jarvis and Matt Leete were not enough and England will now face the Czech Republic today in the first of the play-offs for positions 9-16 at the competition in Portugal.

In the Cadet Girls’ competition, England were beaten by Bulgaria and Spain on Sunday and will play Sweden in the bracket for positions 21-24 today.
