Potential future table tennis Olympians and Paralympians will be competing at the School Games next month – and spectator tickets are still available.
The Games have been the stage for elite performers in the past – previous winners include Sam Walker and Paul Drinkhall who are currently competing for Team GB in Rio, where Tom Jarvis is the reserve athlete, while Jack Hunter-Spivey and Aaron McKibbin will be at the Paralympics next month.
Among those competing this year are Billy Shilton in the standing disability competition and Daniel Bullen in the wheelchair event, both of whom are part of Great Britain’s para development programme.
Last year’s boys’ champion Alex Ramsden has already represented the senior England squad, while there are a host of junior internationals from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland also in the field.
The 2016 School Games take place at Loughborough University from Sptember 1-4 and will see 1,500 athletes compete in 12 sports, including table tennis. The four-day spectacular is supported by National Lottery funding from Sport England and delivered by the Youth Sport Trust.
Tickets are now on general sale, with an earlybird discount available until August 31. To buy tickets for all sessions of competition click here
