Table Tennis England has joined forces with four new partners to deliver Ping! projects in more locations this year.
These partners are: Living Sport (the Active Partnership in Cambridgeshire) who will be delivering projects in Peterborough and the surrounding area; Suffolk County Council; Adur District Council and Worthing Borough Council delivering in West Sussex; and Chichester Community Development Trust.
Keely Armitt, Head of Mass at Table Tennis England, said:
We’re delighted to be welcoming these new partners who’ll be delivering projects from the Ping! portfolio of projects and will introduce a number of outdoor tables into public spaces too. Each partner has specific aims for their projects and particular groups that they will target and, will benefit from the support of Table Tennis England to deliver a range of recreational playing opportunities.
Celebrating 10 years of Ping!
Ping! has evolved from its early inception in 2010 as a six-week London street ping pong festival, into a year-round collection of projects that take ping pong to the people. These projects are designed to remove the barriers to sport and physical activity by delivering table tennis into the places people already spend time, making equipment readily available and helping to build a social infrastructure.
Ping! is celebrating its 10th birthday this year, with thousands of tables now available in public and community spaces for people from all walks of life to enjoy.
These include free to play table tennis tables placed in outdoor public spaces nationwide; over 250 community groups with a Ping in the Community programme; and 37 shopping centres hosting a free to play Ping Pong Parlour in an empty shop unit. These playing opportunities equate to an estimated two million participants over the last year.
