If you know an outstanding volunteer who is worthy of national recognition, then now is the time to nominate them for a Torch Trophy Trust Award.

The awards, now in their 55th year, seek to reward outstanding volunteers in sport and recreation who have received no previous national recognition.

They are looking for people who have given up their time in a voluntary capacity for a number of years to enable others to participate in sport, or young people who are making a significant contribution to the grass roots on a voluntary basis.

Last year, Andy Bray from Haworth Hawks Table Tennis Club became a worthy recipient of one of the prestigious awards. He was nominated by Table Tennis England Development Officer Sally Shutt and received the award from HRH The Earl of Wessex.

This year, the Trust intends to recognise 20 volunteers and are looking for nominations in the following categories:

  • New young volunteer
  • Enabler in a non-mainstream activity
  • Outstanding service
  • Contribution to inclusivity
  • Support for disability sport

Nominations should be made by December 9, with the selection process taking place in late December and the Awards being presented in Spring 2018 in the likely presence of a member of the Royal family.
