A new shorter format summer pairs league has recently started at Hyndburn Table Tennis Centre, home of the East Lancashire Table Tennis League, supported through the Be TT (Better Experience) programme.
The Summer league, which was fully subscribed, started in early May and takes place each Monday and Tuesday evening from 7:30pm, consisting of two parallel divisions of 8 teams, the winners of each going through to a final.
To ensure matches are played every week teams of 2 players (up to 4 register), play 4 singles and 1 doubles. All players are registered to East Lancashire Table Tennis League, with results posted weekly on their Facebook page.
The league Secretary Harry Rawcliffe said:
We’re delighted with the response to the league, it helps maintain interest during the summer and makes good use of the facility out of season. It also helps the league bring in extra revenue to support other activities. We’re also keen to develop a junior league on a similar format and look forward to getting further feedback from our members.
If your league or club would like to develop a similar shorter format league, see our Good Practice Guide – Short Fomat Leagues. You can still apply for Be TT funding up to 3rd June.
