David McBeath won all three group matches to reach the knockout stage of the Belarus Open in Minsk.

The England No 4 started with a comfortable 4-0 win over Pavel Daunarovich of the host nation (11-6, 11-9, 11-8, 11-5) and followed up by defeating Iran’s Miad Lotfijanabadi 4-1 (11-6, 14-12, 5-11, 11-8, 11-2).

He ensured he finished top of the group by beating Kiril Shvetc of Russia 4-1 (11-8, 9-11, 11-6, 12-10, 12-10) and will play another Russian, Nikita Artemenko, in the last 64 on Friday morning. McBeath is currently at a career-high No 249 in the world, while his opponent is at No 674.

In the doubles, McBeath and partner Oscar Perman of Sweden were beaten in the preliminary round by Russian pair Viacheslav Burov & Vasily Lakeev, going down 3-2 (13-15, 11-7, 7-11, 11-3, 11-7).
