The Jack Petchey Table Donation Scheme supports London and Essex schools by providing equipment packages to develop their table tennis offer for the 10th consecutive year!
As many schools across the UK are now facing difficulties to offer safe and engaging sporting provisions, Table Tennis England and the Jack Petchey Foundation have partnered for 10 consecutive years to offer 100 table tennis table equipment packages to schools across London and Essex.
Broomfield School based in Enfield were successful in their application to receive 2 outdoor table tennis tables in October 2020 alongside other key items such as bats, balls and nets. When asked about how the introduction of the new tables back have affected the students, teacher Haaris Ayub commented,
“Our new year 7’s have been shy to get involved in sport at the school, since we received the tables from the Jack Petchey Table Donation Scheme the young students have really grown in confidence and have created new friends through playing together.”

In other news, PingPong4U have developed a programme of challenges for children to complete over the latest lockdown period.
Schools who signed up to the PingPong4U School Challenge received a set of 10 challenges that can be completed within a home or classroom environment alongside supportive resources such as virtual training for staff member, equipment kitbags including bats and balls and score sheets to keep track of accomplishments. Peter Thompson goes on to say:
“We’ve made the challenges to be easily adaptable ensuring there are no barriers to taking part in this fantastic sport! We’ve even collaborated with the Number 1 ranked GB wheelchair table tennis player, Jack Hunter-Spivey, to produce these challenges.”
The PingPong4U School Challenge has been adopted by the Leeds Community Foundation to introduce and develop table tennis within local schools. The rollout of equipment packages and virtual training aims to allow for schools to offer table tennis provisions to the local students that can be easily delivered by teachers.

“I really enjoy taking part in the challenges and it helps with my behaviour in class because I know if I behave the correct way, I get to go to Ping Pong Club!”
