Tom Jarvis and Tin-Tin Ho have progressed through to the last 16 of the European U21 Championships, and Tin-Tin has maintained her 100% win record from yesterday’s group matches!
U21 Women’s
Tin-Tin Ho has continued her winning run at the 2017 European U21 Championships.
The English youngster has finished top of her second stage group with a 4-0 victory over Poland’s Anna Wegrzyn (11-4, 11-5, 12-10, 11-5), a 4-3 victory over Germany’s Nina Mittelham 4-3 (11-3, 11-7, 5-11, 6-11, 8-11, 11-7, 11-6) and a 4-0 victory over Slovakia’s Tatiana Kukulkova (11-4, 11-3, 11-3, 11-3).
The second match will be a particularly sweet victory for Ho, as she lost 0-3 to Mittelham in the recent England Leopards European Qualifying match.
U21 Men’s
Tom Jarvis has also progressed through to the last-16 knock-out stage of the competition.
Jarvis started the day with victories over Poland’s Tomasz Kotowski 4-1 (6-11, 11-9, 11-9, 11-7, 8-11) and Denmark’s Tobias Rasmussen 4-2 (7-11, 8-11, 13-11, 11-7, 11-9, 11-2).
However, he met his match when he faced the competition’s #1 seed Anton Kallberg (SWE). He was defeated in straight sets, 4-0 (5-11, 3-11, 6-11, 4-11).
With two wins and one loss, Jarvis finished second in his group, on count-back.
Tomorrow
U21 Women’s Singles – Tin-Tin Ho, seeded #11, will face the #19 seed, Lisa Lung (BEL).
U21 Men’s Singles – Tom Jarvis will find out his last-16 opponent later today.
U21 Men’s Doubles – Tom Javis and Helshan Weerasinghe will face the Danish pair Tobias Rasmussen and Claus Neilsen.
