Tom Jarvis has had to withdraw from the Europe Youth Top 10 on the eve of the tournament through illness, with Josh Bennett being drafted in to replace him.
Jarvis was seeded fifth in the Junior Boys’ event which gets under way on Friday in Worcester. However, he has been struggling with illness and has had to withdraw.
The selection panel met tonight and considered which players were available to get to Worcester for Friday morning, calling up Bennett.
Table Tennis England Head of Talent & Performance, Simon Mills, said:
We really feel for Tom, having to pull out at such a late stage is obviously a big disappointment.
Josh performed really well at the European Youth Championships in July, reaching the last 64 of the singles, and this gives him an opportunity to build on that.
