The ETTA and English Schools TTA held a joint stand at the Youth Sport Trust Conference held at Telford on 8/9 February aimed at Head teachers, Department Heads and Heads of PE. Despite the cutbacks in funding to the School Sport Partnership network in 2011, interest in Table Tennis has remained buoyant. There was plenty of anecdotal feedback on the positive effect Table Tennis was having on pupils and how much Table Tennis “had taken off” in schools.
There were a number of new faces at the conference, many of whom were new to the resources available to deliver Table Tennis, in particular there was interest in:
- Instant Ping resource (inc. Artengo Rollnet)
- Outdoor Tables
- Butterfly Schools Leagues
- Ladder Boards
- Young Officials and TT Networker Award
- Butterfly Skills Awards and Circuit Cards
- Promotional posters and resources
Over sixty school contacts filled in a questionnaire, giving feedback on a number of questions ranging from: the number of tables in each school, to whether the school is running a Table Tennis club and would like to create a link with a local TT Club. The winner of a draw for an instant Ping pack was Ivybridge School Sport Partnership, Ivybridge, Devon.
