The best young prospects in the country are ready to take to the table in the new National Cup competition this weekend.
The Cadet and Under-12 National Cup takes place in Bristol, with up to 10 competitors in boys’ and girls’ categories in the two age groups.
They will play each other in a round-robin format, with the players who pick up most points being crowned champion in each category.
The competition was created as part of the first phase of our Competition Review and replaces the former Cadet Masters event in the calendar. The Junior National Cup will be held in March.
The competitors will be playing for new perpetual trophies donated by Table Tennis England members.
The Cadet Boys’ cup was donated by Mike Holt, with the equivalent Girls’ cup donated by Michael and Lillian Wilson.
The Under-12 Boys’ event winner will receive a trophy bearing the name of Peter Charters, and the Girls’ equivalent bears the name of Jill Parker.
The action gets under way at 11.15am on Saturday and you can follow updates on our website and on our Twitter feed @TableTennisEng
