Three-time Nationals Champion Kelly Sibley will represent England in Dortmund

The England squads for the World Team Table Tennis Championships (25th March – 1st April) have been announced with eight players heading to Westfalenhallen in Dortmund, Germany.

The squad includes both English Senior National Championships Singles Winners Paul Drinkhall and Kelly Sibley as well as their respective finals opponents Liam Pitchford and Joanna Parker.

Joining Drinkhall and Pitchford in the men’s team will be Andrew Baggaley and Daniel Reed while Sibley and Parker will be joined by Hannah Hicks and Jessica Dawson in the women’s team.

The men’s team have a training camp in Sweden from the 18th March while both squads will travel to Dortmund on the 23rd.

Both sides will be looking for promotion to the top division in Germany with the men facing; Egypt, Argentina, Cuba, Venezuela and Australia while the women will play; Italy, India, Nigeria, Israel and Estonia.

The tournament is a bi-ennial event in which the top 24 sides contest the Championship Division. In 2010 the English men finished 38th while the women finished 21st but were relegated after their world ranking dropped (only the top 18 are guaranteed safety).
