The World Team Championships have again been postponed – until the early months of 2021.

The Hana Bank 2020 World Team Table Tennis Championships were originally due to have been played in Busan, South Korea, from March 22-29 but the event was postponed at the start of the coronavirus outbreak.

Subsequently, the first back-up dates of June 21-28 were also cancelled, and the ITTF has now confirmed that the event will no longer take place on the latest back-up dates of September 27 to October 4.

The ITTF says this is due to the fact that the majority of teams would be unlikely to be able to travel to South Korea for those dates.

The early months of 2021 have now been earmarked for the Championships, and the exact date will be decided at the next Executive Committee meeting on July 10.

The ITTF says the scheduled dates of the individual World Championships in June next year may be altered, while it is monitoring the situation closely with regard to staging this year’s Men’s and Women’s World Cups.

The federation will go ahead with holding its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on September 28, but in an online format.
