Jasmin Wong’s last-32 place was the best result in the senior categories at the Safir International event in Sweden.

The event runs alongside the Swedish Junior & Cadet Open and a number of English players competed, as did a contingent from Fusion TTC in London.

Wong got through the group stage in second place and went on to reach the round of 32 in the Women’s Singles. Evie Collier was the only other Engish player to make it through – as group winner – but she went out in the last 64.

Five English players made it to the knockout rounds in the Men’s Singles, including Fusion player Joshua Bruce. He reached the last 64, as did Ben Piggott and Thomas Rayner. Maxim Stevens and Josh Weatherby went out in the round of 128.

There were also younger age group categories and in the under-21s, Sam Wilson and Erin Green reached the last 16 of their respective gender singles competitions.

Green reached the same stage in the under-18s, as did Joe Cope in the boys event, and Green was also in the last 16 of the under-16 girls, as was Millie Rogove. The best performers in the U16 boys were Naphong Boonyaprapa, Felix Thomis and Ben Piggott, who reached the last 32. Jakub Piwowar and Connor Green made the last 16 of the under-14 boys.
