England’s Womens team came through the quarter-finals today with a superb 3-1 win over Canada. None of this 45 minutes stuff for the women, it took a full 2 hours to overcome Canada

It did not start so well though, as world no 157  Zhang Mo took a 3-0 win over new England No 1 Kelly Sibley in the first individual match.

It was Joanna Parkers day today, two superb 3-0 wins over first Sara Yuen and then  Zhang Mo. In between Hannah Hicks kept her unbeaten run going with a 3-1 win over Carmen Lee.

The girls must overcome the Home Country, India tomorrow to reach the finals, with the losing semi-finalists entering into a battle for the last medal.

India took an excellent 3-1 win over Australia today to win that spot and will be a handful on home soil with a partisan support I am sure.
