The Weald Table Tennis Club is to run free ‘Come and Try It’ sessions aimed at anyone of any age who is interested in table tennis, from 2-4pm on Saturday and Sunday 18th/19th August.
The Club has also signed on to the ‘Join In’ programme (www.joininuk.org), an exciting idea devised by Seb Coe’s team at London 2012 to encourage the nation to head down to their local sports club, between the Olympics closing (11th August) and the Paralympics opening (29th August).
Unfortunately, the Weald Club cannot use their regular facilities in the Mary Sheafe Gym, Angley School, Cranbrook over the Summer holidays as the school is closed for refurbishment. Fortunately, the Weald Sports Centre on the same site has come to the rescue, providing a hall for the event on 18th/19th August while bats and balls will also be provided by the club.
Weald Club Head Coach and Chairman, Ken Muhr, said: “We wanted to keep open throughout the summer, not only to run our normal programme, but also to attract newcomers inspired by the London Olympics. We are disappointed we cannot stay open, but we are very grateful to the Weald Sports for hosting our ‘Join In’ event and look forward to welcoming anyone who would like to have a go at table tennis.”
The Club will re-open on Monday, 3rd September. Meanwhile, for any enquiries or further information contact Ken Muhr on Tel. 01580 752676 (H), [email protected]
