Urban TTC clinched the Premier Division title as they stylishly overcame their weekend double-header.

The club needed victories in both of their games against Drumchapel and Ormeau in order to capture the crown, but they were hardly fazed as they dropped just one set on their way to clinching an unexpected title.

Drumchapel and Ormesby had been heavily tipped to fight it out for this year’s honours, but the club, based in Barnet, has spent almost the entire year in top spot and have thoroughly deserved their crown.

On Saturday, they stormed to an 8-0 victory over the defending champions Drumchapel, dropping just a single end on their way to victory. Satoshi Aida, Daniel Kosiba, Szilard Gyorgy and Daniel Schaffer were the quartet to feature, and they starred once again on Sunday in the title decider against Ormeau.

In front of a healthy crowd, a stunning start featuring three straight end victories put Urban in touching distance of the trophy.

When Daniel Schaffer came from behind against Owen Cathcart to make it 4-0, the writing was all the wall.

Vitor Seiji Ishiy put the celebrations on ice temporarily as he defeated Aida, but Gyorgy sealed it once and for all with victory over Robinson, allowing the celebrations to start.
