The British League Premier Division is nearing its end and the table is split into three sections – Drumchapel and Ormesby at the top, Halton trailing at the bottom and the rest in the middle.
With four rounds to go there is still chance for movement in the table and the latest round – the 11th – is this weekend.
Coming out of an 8-0 defeat when they played Ormesby, Cardiff City will be going up against Drumchapel, who have been this season’s unstoppable team. The last time the two clubs met it was an 8-0 whitewash and this match will be played away for Cardiff City, adding to the pressure of going up against the No 1 club. Confirmed to play this weekend are Daniel O’Connell, David Buck and Ryan Crowley.
Cardiff will be tested by Drumchapel’s all-star team in the form of Liu Song, Calum Main, Huang Yen Che and He Zhi Wen, who only lost his first match when playing Ormesby’s Victor Brodd in the ninth round.
The rest of the season may now only seem like a formality for Drumchapel but Ormesby will be waiting in the wings to seize any opportunity afforded to them, so the Scottish club will still be at 100% until the title is cemented.
After winning the battle of the bottom two in the last round North Ayrshire will be feeling positive ahead of their match against Ormesby this weekend. Playing the league’s No 2 will be tough for the Scottish club but they will be looking to put some pressure on Ormesby and create an exciting match.
Man of the match from the last round, Chris Main, will be sitting out this weekend but confirmed to be making the trip to Middlesborough will be Sean Doherty, Richie Main, Colin Dalglish and Craig Hardie.
Ormesby gave a strong performance in beating Cardiff 8-0 and although securing the league title is now looking unlikely, they will look to do more of the same this weekend to further consolidate their second place.
In the mix to play this weekend are some familiar faces, Filip Szymanski, Danny Reed, Darius Knight, Michael Marsden and Joe Cope, with the final selection being confirmed later on this week.
Halton are still struggling at the bottom of the table without a single point to their name. The club have been plagued with team selection issues and, continuing that theme ahead of this weekend’s match against Fusion, Halton have lost players to two other competitions. Richard Lightowler, Kevin Dolder, Ryan Lunn and Connor Whitehead are the players who will be playing for the club this Saturday on home soil.
Fusion have lost only three out of their eight matches and are currently sitting comfortably in the middle of the table. The last time fusion came up against Halton they took home a convincing 7-1 victory with five of the matches being over in three sets. A win this time would see them leapfrog BATTS into third place.
