A second fixture in three weekends awaits Premier British League’s eight clubs as the demands of the division begin to intensify.
Unbeaten Urban will look to defend their one-point lead at the top of the table when they entertain Fusion.
Japanese star Satoshi Aida returns to the Urban side to lead the attack, after missing the match against BATTS earlier this month. He will be joined by Szilard Gyorgy, who will be keen to increase his 25% win average at number two, while Urban will be hoping Daniel Schaffer can continue his fine start to the season at number three, with the Hungarian boasting seven wins from eight so far this season. Alim Hirji will play at four against a Fusion outfit that has managed to pick up just one set from their last two matches.
The two clubs pushing Urban the most, Ormesby and Drumchapel, both play at home this weekend.
Ormesby’s challenge comes in the shape of a winless Cardiff City side welcoming back a number of key players after they all missed last week’s defeat to Ormeau.
Tom Maynard’s first appearance of the season will give the Welsh side some much-needed top-flight experience, with the former Grand Prix winner set to be joined by Dean Cundy and Ryan Owen.
Meanwhile, Ormesby will be without Darius Knight for the match but are boosted by the return of Swede Viktor Brodd. The match will also showcase one of Ormesby’s latest rising talents, with junior Joe Cope set to debut in the top flight on home soil. Daniel Reed and Matej Mamut will also feature.
As for Drumchapel, they host a mouthwatering Scotland derby against seventh-placed North Ayrshire.
The defending champions remain unbeaten after four rounds and have won their last two matches 7-1.
But they will have their work cut out against North Ayrshire, who will be represented by a full Scottish contingent in Sean Doherty, Richard Main, Colin Dalgleish and Chris Main, three of whom have previously represented Drumchapel at British League level.
The final game of the round will see BATTS look to end a three-match losing streak when they travel to face Ormeau.
However, they face a difficult challenge against a side that has lost just once this season and picked up a credible draw with Drumchapel last year.
Vitor Ishiy, Paul McCreery, Ashley Robinson and Owen Cathcart are Ormeau’s quartet for the contest, with the Brazilian world number 159 Ishiy making just his second appearance of the season.
The fixture has only been made harder for BATTS due to a number of clashes, meaning they are without the likes of Mathan Simon and Malte Moregard.
Helshan Weerasinghe will step up to play at number one, and he will be joined by Steve Beerling, Ethan Walsh and Josh Dye for the trip to Northern Ireland.
