Table Tennis England today announces a series of improvements to our TT Memberships platform, in conjunction with our partners Sport:80 and to celebrate the anniversary of our partnership.

It is almost two years ago to the day that the platform was launched in what was the biggest technological transition in our history as our membership data was transferred to the bespoke portal created by Sport:80.

The second anniversary coincides with the end of phase one of the project, which focused on completing that complex transition and on centralising a number of member services, including:

  • Membership Registrations & Renewals
  • Results & Rankings History
  • Performance Pathway Tracking
  • Safeguarding & First Aid Qualifications
  • Coaching & Officiating Credentials including Licensing
  • Volunteer Details
  • Management of Roles across the Table Tennis Pyramid

Sport:80, who were selected as our partners after a thorough tender process, created the new portal which included building a bespoke results and rankings system, and worked alongside Rocca Creative to ensure full integration with the new TT Leagues platform.

We now move into phase two of the project, expanding and enhancing the services provided by the technology, starting with event sanctioning and event registration functionality.

Neil Rogers (Head of Competitions & Events at Table Tennis England) and the team have been working closely with Sport:80 to refine this functionality and ensure it is fit for purpose as we return to play. We are now in the latter stages of a pilot before it is fully rolled out.

Also planned for this second phase are refinements to the results and rankings system and the introduction of a new integration between the TTE membership portal and our learning management system.

The latter recognises the importance of making our education more accessible particularly in a post-pandemic world, and the integration will support this area of our sport considerably. It will utilise Sport:80’s Single Sign-On (SSO) service to make for a seamless user experience which will see individual members being able to access the learning management system from their personal profile with a single click.

The integration will also ensure that members’ credentials are automatically validated and certifications or qualifications they achieve will be reflected in their profile.

Table Tennis England Chief Executive Sara Sutcliffe said: “When we started working with Sport:80, our intention was to form a long-term partnership which would evolve with the needs of the table tennis community.

“A lot of hard work has gone in to bringing this project to fruition and we’re very proud of what has been achieved over the last two years. It was a major change for our sport and we couldn’t have achieved it without Sport:80’s expertise and support – and indeed without the patience and support of our members.

“I’d also like to pay tribute to Sport:80 for the service they have provided to us during the uncertain time of the pandemic, allowing us to facilitate remote working and to continue to reliably deliver vital membership services.

“At the end of phase one of the partnership, we have a solid foundation to grow the platform for the benefit of our members and the introduction of the event functionality will be testament to that.”

Further details and a step-by-step guide to the new event functionality will be released in the coming weeks.
