The second phase of TT Kidz is open for applications from clubs which want to deliver the new, inspiring initiative to get youngsters into the sport.

Almost 400 children took part in the first phase and the programme sold out in almost half of the 29 clubs which delivered it.

Some clubs had to increase capacity to cope with demand, with Horsham TTC and Grantham TTC seeing 27 and 26 participants respectively. Some 30% of the participants across the board were girls, way above the 10% ratio of active female players in the sport.

Now we are looking for clubs to build on this good start by hosting the next wave of TT Kidz programmes.

If you need any encouragement, here is some feedback from a couple of clubs involved in phase one.

Raj Patel from Kingfisher Table Tennis Club in Reading said: “TT Kidz is a great initiative from Table Tennis England to help inspire the next generation of players, and it is a great way to attract more young people into table tennis clubs.

“It has been a massive success for us at Kingfisher and amazing to see many new young faces playing table tennis for the first time, having lots of fun and making friends. All the children left the first session buzzing and excited and wanting to come back.”

The feedback from Archway Peterborough TTC on their first TT Kidz session was: “The session went off with a bang! Congratulations on a terrific initiative – the training, information flow and marketing resources are first rate.”

And if you still need convincing, watch our video to find out more about how TT Kidz will help your club:

What is TT Kidz?

TT Kidz is an eight-week programme developed by Table Tennis England to provide youngsters with an inspiring, engaging and fun first experience in the sport. The central aims are:

  • To provide young people with an inspiring, engaging and fun first experience in the sport
  • To enable us to build national partnerships with organisations that can help take the sport to more young people
  • To provide clubs and coaches with a more attractive programme to take into schools and community groups to enhance a table tennis offer
  • To engage new young coaches/activators in the sport

The TT Kidz programme provides clubs with specially researched and designed sessions to help them introduce a whole new generation of children to our great game, and giving them the skills necessary to enjoy a great game of table tennis for themselves.

It could potentially add a new, dynamic aspect to your club, giving you and your fellow coaches the chance to engage with children and parents, and teach the game in a new, refreshing way.

Clubs that are part of the programme receive support from Table Tennis England, including resources, training and marketing assistance.

Applications to deliver TT Kidz in February are now open. To sign up to deliver TT Kidz please follow this link and complete the short form.

Please note: To deliver the programme, your club needs to be PremierClub affiliated or to become PremierClub affiliated. To find out more about club affiliation click here.
