Maria Tsaptsinos started her Women’s Singles campaign at the Spanish Open with two victories.

The newly crowned PG Mutual National champion overcame opponents from Malta and Denmark, with one  match to come tomorrow against Monika Urikova (SVK) to decide the group winner.

Emily Bolton was defeated in her two group matches in Guadalajara today, losing out to Bernadett Balint of Hungary and Liu Xin of the host nation.

Bolton did win her opening match in the Under-21 Women’s Singles, and it was a decent victory against the host nation’s Alba Fernandez, coming from 2-1 down to win 3-2 by taking the fourth 14-12 and the decider 12-10.

Sam Walker is sixth seed in the Men’s Singles and goes straight into the knockout stage.
