Heacham Table Tennis Club staged a grand opening hard bat tournament to show off its new equipment and facilities.

For the first time, the club, based within Heacham Club Charity, was able to stage an excellent tournament in Heacham Public Hall after a £6,000 grant from Table Tennis England plus four new table tennis tables purchased by Heacham Youth and Community Trust Ltd and further funding from Norfolk Community Foundation, Heacham Youth Trust and Heacham Poorsland.

The tournament started at 10am with groups of six players on each of the four tables. Then there was an hour break for some fantastic refreshments. In the afternoon there was another competition, this time a hard bat doubles format.

After each player had played five singles in the morning and then five doubles in the afternoon it came down to a grand final, contested by Mary-Ann Woodhouse partnered by Graham Keeley and Sabrina Rayner with Rob Yarrow.

At the end of the 10 minutes allotted time it was dead level and in extra time it was Mary-Ann and Graham who took the title. A fantastic time was had by all.
