Monaco’s Yang Xiaoxin adds a world-class touch to the Aldershot Grand Prix weekend.
The 27-year-old world No 44 heads the field for the second event of the 2015/16 series and, with an ITTF World Tour title under her belt from Croatia in 2014, will surely take some beating.
Attempting to do just that will be the likes of Hannah Hicks, Emma Vickers and, fresh from the European Championships, Lois Peake.
Whoever wins, it will mean a second player on the roll of honour for this season as Charlotte Carey, who took the title last time out in Liverpool, is not featuring.
On the men’s side, there could be a repeat of Liverpool, with title-winner Ryan Jenkins the top seed. Also in the top four are Scotland’s Gavin Rumgay and English pair David McBeath and Chris Doran.
Aldershot is a new venue for the Grand Prix circuit and the action will be at the Aldershot Garrison Sports Centre in Rawlinson Road on October 3 and 4.
As ever, the Banded events take place on the Saturday, with Sunday featuring the Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Under-21, Veterans and Doubles competitions.
