Leigh A Reclaim Local Table Tennis League Championship

Congratulations to Leigh A for winning the Tonbridge  & Tunbridge Wells Division One Championship for 2011/12 season, to Darent Valley for their success in gaining promotion back to the top division at the first attempt, and to Leigh D for winning the Handicap Competition. Apart from Division 2, it was a close finish to the season with nothing decided until the final matches in the final week of each competition.

The Leigh village club had a great season winning two out of three team trophies as well as their B team player, Steve McCarthy, winning the coveted Open Singles competition at the League’s Closed Championships. Players from the Tunbridge Wells club, Byng Hall, were also successful at the end of season competition with the current Kent Closed Ladies Champion, Jasmin Ould, winning the Ladies Competition and then combining with club mate Andrew Lockwood, to win the Mixed Doubles. Incidentally, Andrew won the Under 18’s competition and was also runner up in the Open Singles. Tom Windram won the Under 15’s.

All in all it was a very successful season for the league with an increasing number of players taking part and the standard of table tennis rising and rising. The league also had success with both its teams gaining runners up spots in their respective divisions of the Kent Veterans League.

With at least three new teams joining the league, next year’s competition is expected to be tougher than ever. Any teams or individual players wishing to join the league should visit our website, TTWTTL.com for details.
